Pierre Christin was born in 1938 in the same Parisian suburb as Jean-Claude Mezieres, and the two boys later went to the same school.

At this point, Christin's Jekyll and Hyde personality began to develop. A diligent pupil, he studied hard, and went on to the Sorbonne, the Institut d'Etudes Politiques, became the proud possessor of a doctorate in Comparative Literature, and finally, in 1967, was appointed Director of the Department of Journalism at Bordeaux University.
But it was also at this point that he became an avid reader of comic strips, and that his passion for the novel and the cinema emerged. These interests were all to lead to his activities as journalist, scriptwriter and author.
As Dr. Jekyll, he has taught in several American Universities and Colleges, and has published two works on French civilization with Scribners in New York. In France, his research is based on the problems of communication, and he is working on a thesis that news items are a form of popular literature.
As Mr. Hyde, he has written two Science Fiction novels, short stories.a novel about the Parisian suburbs (ZAC, Grasset), etc... Above all, he has worked with several artists, in particular for the magazine PILOTE, and has created the VALERIAN series with Mezieres, LE VAISSEAU DE PIERRE and LES PHALANGES DE L'ORDRE NOIR with Enki Bilal, LA DEMOISELLE DE LA LEGION D'HONNEUR with Annie Goetzinger, RUMEURS SUR LA ROUERGUE with Jacques Tardi, EN DOUCE LE BONHEUR with Jean Vern, EN ATTENDANT LE PRINTEMPS with Patrick Lesueur, LES LECONS DU PROFESSEUR BOURREMOU with Francois Boucq, and recently, with twenty different artists, an album on the twenty arrondissements of Paris (all published by Dargaud).
