Incarner un extraterrestre, raconter l'histoire d'un troll, c'est la même chose : le jeu crée de la fiction, et créer de la fiction, c'est un jeu. Les littératures de l'imaginaire ont fait du ludique une manière d'approche des univers inventés, une porte d'entrée en forme de « et si... », de faire semblant. Feindre, provoquer l'illusion, c'est déjà jouer, c'est-à-dire littéralement établir des règles autour d'une transfiguration du réel. Est-ce par une sorte de fraternité que les folles fictions que nous chérissons semblent inextricablement liées au ludique sous toutes ses formes ? Le jeu est à l'évidence un art narratif, et à la fois bien plus que cela. C'est ce que tentent de démontrer dans leurs articles des auteurs de science-fiction ou de fantasy tels que Fabrice Colin, David Calvo, Jean-Philippe Jaworski et Alain Damasio, mais aussi des chercheurs, spécialistes ou passionnés du jeu comme Rémi Sussan, Sébastien Genvo, Raphaël Colson, Julien Annart et Philippe Ros. Paraissant depuis mars 1983, le livre-revue Yellow Submarine livre ici son 134ème volume, le deuxième à être publié par les Moutons électriques après le très remarqué Envies d'utopie. Unique support exclusivement consacré à l'étude de la science-fiction, Yellow Submarine se penche cette fois sur la culture ludique et ses rapports avec la science-fiction, dans un dossier coordonné par le nouveau rédacteur en chef, Nicolas Lozzi.
